That is false, hippos is very much still there. The kitchen is now a mobile trailer, and the owners pull it across the road to higher ground in the Fall.

Doesn't make much difference if you have a night scope. You cannot hunt with it in Canada.

Decided to go with venison burgers over sausages. Family will eat them more often and save money on casings. Made a 9lb test batch and they turned out better than expected. 9lbs made me 28 burgers on the thickest setting on my burger press.

Hey guys I got it done this morning!! I'm jacked right now wohoo lol, had a nice 4 point but technically 3 point buck come out and got the job done. Such a big body on him. It's been 8 years since I got an archery deer. But I've had success over the years with the gun. I'm ever so thankful. I got him at 8am. I ended up getting him in the liver right at 15 yards. Boy was it a hassle getting him out he ran right into the swamp and saw and heard him crash. Only made it 75 yards.

I got lucky again. Got my 10th moose...9 with the bow. Went up with 2 of my brothers and my nephew. My brother and his son had a moose by early in the week as close as 47 yards but nephew couldn't get a shot. Thursday morning my nephew had to go home and of course I got the moose that night. So me 58 and my brothers 65 and 69 had to quarter it and drag it out probably 600 yards on a game carrier and toboggan. Lots of work. My brother was about 130 yards away from me and saw it coming along clearcut on my side and tried some calls but it wouldn't come so when it went into the woods closer to me he told me to call. Nothing for a bit so I got a little more aggressive in my cow calls/pleading and he popped out 25 yards. No grunts just heard a little noise and I tugged back the Bowtech Reign7 and stopped him and made a good shot. He went down the cut and into the edge of the woods and crashed right there. Shot it just before dark and went back to pick up one brother, got it quartered and hung up ands safe by midnight. Back at first light and took it out and back to camp and hung the quarters friday. Skinned and cut up the quarters and deboned it Saturday. Broke camp and drove home 8 hours sunday and butchered and vacuum sealed it last night. Still have to unpack and get ready for deer, put boat and gear away but we have meat for the winter. The rack was 34 inches wide and he had a good sized body.

If anyone wants to stop by for an hour or two and let chips fly or talk shop please send me a message. I ask that you RSVP with a private message and I'll provide the address and make sure we have enough space to meet any COVID rules. All skill levels welcome!

Looks like a pond to help control the stormwater from the parking lot. Ponds like that, and most man made ponds, need to be cleaned out occasionally. Otherwise they fill in completely with sediment and serve no function. Some storm water ponds are also regulated by the ministry of environment which state how often they need to be cleaned out in order to still work.

As it was man made to start with, I would assume that in a couple years it will get back to that "naturalized" look.
