We got them as a teen in the '60's up to 14 inch was my best, the Shorthils Park area was actually downstream of the better fishery and stream habitat. Lived in Port Rowan for a while in the 70's, there were a few there in Norfolk County back then if you knew where to look

Fished outta grimsby today. Wanted to get out to 40+fow but the winds had other plans. Made it to 25 and that was about the max wave height I’d wanna fish in. Cruised around a bit and went in to 12fow. Ended up with 2 lakers today one for each my buddy and I. Water temps were 50f. Both fish caught in flicker minnows.

Headed to the saugeen to fish with my pal John.
limits were too quick. We spent 3 days camping. Although we got a whack ton of rain. We dealt with it. These fish were all from the saugeen river. All wild fish.

    Anyone getting out tomorrow?
It’s my gfs bday tomorrow so don’t think I’ll be getting out. She is going to the spa so maybe I’ll sneak out to local trip for an hour or two but really I’d like to get out in the kayak and target them in the lake.

The last few years has been difficult for me to get out like I normally do. That being said, I truly appreciate the times when I can get out on the bank. This year I had one short 3 hour session locally, and a trip to Rice Lake this past weekend. Friday night until Monday morning, 3 of us fished when we could. The wind made it impossible to fish for most of the day Saturday, and almost impossible to fish during the night. Everyone caught fish and we had a great time together. I wanted to share the absolute beautiful mirror carp I caught. For most Canadian carp anglers, catching a mirror is nothing short of extraordinary! These fish were the highlight of the trip for all 3 of us.

A bed extender would be good. I don’t use one but probably should. My yak hangs out roughly 5’.

Like a aluminum or a kayak?
put whatever you want in the back and if it sticks out more than 24” from your bumper add a flag.

Anyone know if there’s a “text” number you can msg to report people keeping fish out of season?

I go there to browse and pickup things we use regularly from coffee filters ,to tuna . They need to change the name to the Buck25 Store , not much to buy for a buck now. .
I buy suet packs for the birdies & they were $1.25 , now $1.75 , but still the best place to stretch a buck.
As I passed by the tools & garden supplies I saw some new fishing stuff, like 7" fishing knives , line , lures ,ect . So I  spotted some Trilene 30# fishing line for $5 .
I thought it might be good for big cats or carp ....but when I took it from the package it was very stiff ....maybe should be expected with 30# mono .
It's over 200 yds . but I'm not sure I'll use it . Maybe it's more suitable for a rigger reel ? Any ideas where to use this line ?

This is where barbless is good to go. If a bass they'll throw the lure easier.
OOS just means you cannot target (specie) and you have to release them if caught.

I have caught a ton of pike on spinners. They're actually one of my favorite baits to throw for pike. To be fair though, bass will hit almost anything you throw for pike, sometimes it's tough to avoid. Just gotta be super quick with the release if you do get an oos bass.

One of the things I'm looking forward to the eclipse is doing time lapses with my phone and GoPro on the field where I hunt. What I would really like to do though is a time lapse with my trail cam but that option is not there. I think it would be really cool because when it gets to a certain lack of light it goes to IR. I'm almost tempted to go out there and do some raking and trimming just to keep that camera going. I think if everybody else gets disappointed due to clouds and rain or something, the go-to document people will be watching are the time lapses.
Does anybody have a time lapse option on their camera or am I going to have to hook up blade of phragmites on a metronome in front of my trail cam?

Some of the regs can be a little cloudy . I saw a guy tossing spinner baits and he said he was targeting pike ....sure enough he caught a pike !
The MNR used to check anglers at the back end of Jordan where bass would come to the shallows to spawn and they would tell them to leave .
The American side of the River has different seasons, like our northern waters .
As Mark said get a copy at CT , and I'll ask my local CT as well .

Bass season is closed until the fourth Saturday in June. The Canadian Tire in Welland usually has hard copies of the fishing regulations. You should get one

Even if a CO from MNR couldn't make it out, OPP would be next in line to investigate.

No I just left them alone. They were on the far side of the river. They kept one.
Would be nice if MNR would keep an eye on that spot but I’ve never seen MNR in brantford besides opening day for trout on a small creek.
