Bass-turd reacted to smerchly in Back Pack Found
After meeting some of our members during the SCGFA cleanup I checked out a few other spots to fish for pike and I found a back pack full of tackle that I think was forgotten or fell off the back of a pickup ,ect. I put it in my van and waited for about 30 min. but no one came for it . So , knowing some people may not be honest and keep it I decided to post it here since we have many 'guests' who checked NFN daily . Describe the bag and some of the contents and I will meet up at Port Dal. as it's only 15 min. away . There is a LOT of tackle in this heavy back pack , I hope the owner gets it back !
I posted here as I'm not sure if the Lost/Found thread is open for non members .

Bass-turd got a reaction from Fish Farmer in Mmmm…..brownies!!!
Got out in the sun today and was rewarded with my first shore brown, approx 26-28 inches and about 5-6lbs, caught on a 1/4 oz Cleo in chrome/green……the weather is looking favourable the next little while for early trouters, just be careful the rocks on shore can still be ice covered

I run 15lb braid with 10lb floro leader, I’ll move to 8lb when it’s clearer. Bass sized square bill crankbaits work, rogues and husky jerks too, as for plastics try a 3 inch paddle tail that’s resembles a goby, I’ve done pretty well on the keitech baits

Never fished either for browns or the L Ont shore before, but, considering my poor luck in Ft. Erie lately, I have to try it.
What other lures besides cleos work for browns? How about rapalas, or plastic minnow baits?
And what weight line does everyone use?

Beauty brown , I remember when cleos were the lure du jour for browns at Port D. and we had to keep a tad up from the snaggy bottom .
We also used the alligator spoons and kwickfish .

Bass-turd got a reaction from Tyler0420 in 2024 fishing season
I agree Tyler I cant seem to wait for the spring browns, I'm already chucking some lures out there on the warmer sunnier days, no luck yet but only tried a couple times

Bass-turd got a reaction from Tyler0420 in Lower Niagara boat fishing
I’m no pro and I’m just starting to get into the drift game on the Niagara myself, there’s a bunch of YouTube vids on the subject, I like paul castellano, anyone who is a guide I would take their advice

Bass-turd got a reaction from Cabanaboy in Pike hunting
I target them a lot, love fishing for them, got a few trays worth of lures dedicated to chasing em down, and don’t get me started on their topwater strikes….anyone else see them shoot out of the water like a cruise missle when striking your topwater? Best thing ever
