  1. 1 hour for each rod, I meant.
  2. I believe once its gone, it won't come back. That was the one chance to have something nice.
  3. I see some places in USA they allow 2 to 3 rods for catfish from shore. It would motivate me more for sit and wait type fishing. 1 hour is my limit without a fish.
  4. Who takes care of this? The city? It started off as two platforms attached to make one longer dock. Then they become unbolted (by somebody) and there were two sections right against the shore. NOT secured in any manner. This morning there is one section left. Shameful people who vandalized this public use dock. Its always these %^&*(* that ruin it for others.
  5. Tough to avoid bass in pike water. I never intentionally fish for bass. I just let them shake off
  6. I thought this video would be good here when it comes to gobies (and bass) behaviors.
  7. I'm always thinking smaller lures for more fish in the spring. Usually I get the "hammer handles". Still no signs of sunfish and such. water still too cold maybe.
  8. On Sunday, in about 4 hours in the morning I got a 28" and a 23" pike in Port D. One on J11 Rapala and the smaller one a #4 Vibrax. Good thing for the wire leader and barbless hooks. Both took lures in fairly deep, but able to save them without being bleeders. Going to have to start using spinnerbaits instead or go to larger lures.
  9. Its a natural expansion from when they first showed up in the Great Lakes. Not sure which lake. so many ways locally they can spread. I wouldn't be concerned. Just kill the ones you catch and feed them to gulls.
  10. Best tartar sauce for me was the Kraft one. Very tangy and punched through the greasiest of Fish & Chips. They don't sell it anymore in stores. One F&C place in the city had to order them from England. Haven't found anything close, except MAYBE the orange one from Lakeport F&C. If you like dill, the Heinz version is good.
  11. In dark muddy water you can get them in the day. Clear water, definitely the same time the walleye would start. Have to be in the right spot at the right time for daytime.
  12. I'm going to try for catfish in the afternoon. I notice in Jordan Harbour, the water lever is noticeably higher. Hopefully the boathouse doesn't get flooded again like a few years back.
  13. Not if the warranty covers parts and labour.
  14. Loyal customers will get bumped in sooner, like my pet groomer. First dibs on cancellations.
  15. I wouldn't trust any box store mechanics in general. Best to make good with an independent one. They'll do more to keep you as a loyal customer.
  16. Good to know in case of emergency to catch fish. I know cut bait for catfish is around $8, but obviously meant for only catfish.
  17. $$$$ if enterprising enough. What's a dozen worms cost now?
  18. Or just dominated by cattails bulrushes.
  19. Never see people ice fishing out there. I would start drilling holes off that point above your circle and move east, into that 8m mark point.
  20. Bullheads seem to go for anything. And they seem to swim in packs. You get one, more will be close by. I've even tried those Gulp and Power Bait baits for catfish. Never a channel cat. Just bullhead. But which bullhead now? Never really paid attention. Most likely brown.
  21. Thanks very much Luke. As a non boater, that puts my mind at ease knowing that isn't just a mud flat. Those fish need somewhere to winter that isn't 3 ft deep.
  22. Once the weeds and pads start to show there are lots of carp splashing around in June. I'll bet the bass are there, but around shoreline cover. I'm sure the catfish would like cover as well. I normally catch bullheads close to shore there. I wonder how many times a bass fisherman would latch onto a channel cat with a jig 'n pig or scented weedless tube.
