boogaloo reacted to cplummer in Fishing the saugeen river for brookies
Headed to the saugeen to fish with my pal John.
limits were too quick. We spent 3 days camping. Although we got a whack ton of rain. We dealt with it. These fish were all from the saugeen river. All wild fish.

boogaloo reacted to smerchly in Back Pack Found
I was telling my daughter about it while taking her home from the hospital . She went back to the hospital again 2 days ago & had her phone so she went on Facebook and asked if it was ok to ask if anyone lost a fishing tackle bag & last night a fellow answered her & described a few items , she messaged my wife who messaged the owner of the bag .
He described more of the contents & he came here last night to pick it up . He has been on NFN and knows of a famous guy called smerchly. 😇 He is a very nice young man from Thorold and was very happy to get all his gear back . I posted a photo of him holding a big rainbow trout from the pool but deleted it when he contacted me as he may not want his picture displayed here ....it's on Facebook .
I am waiting to hear from my daughter to take home and just now heard she has to stay another night . Kudos to her for finding the owner of the tackle bag ! 💝

No pin, I drill a hole through the cork and glue in a piece of tubing from a spray can. As long as they can spin freely it won't twist yer line.............Daniel

boogaloo reacted to smerchly in Back Pack Found
After meeting some of our members during the SCGFA cleanup I checked out a few other spots to fish for pike and I found a back pack full of tackle that I think was forgotten or fell off the back of a pickup ,ect. I put it in my van and waited for about 30 min. but no one came for it . So , knowing some people may not be honest and keep it I decided to post it here since we have many 'guests' who checked NFN daily . Describe the bag and some of the contents and I will meet up at Port Dal. as it's only 15 min. away . There is a LOT of tackle in this heavy back pack , I hope the owner gets it back !
I posted here as I'm not sure if the Lost/Found thread is open for non members .

Maybe more so in a bottom bouncing situation they will.
MAYBE from a boat where the drift is controlled it can be better.
That's why I don't use them. Even with good swivels it won't help if it
tangles/twists upon itself during the drift. Could be the wings, could from not true center lined?
I notice this with corkies and streamers as well. Just worse with winged corkies.

I fished them off a 3 way swivel with the sinker on a dropper , lower Niagara, never a problem with line twist

Spin and glow were originally a west coast steelhead / salmon thing in the late 80's, early 90's or so along the time corkies came around and way before beads became popular. They would trail them with yarn or roe or shrimp. They fish alot differently out there than us, and some really fast, shallow runs we would never really try around here. Fish out there seem to grab anything that gets there attention as they don't have any time to inspect so these probably took their share of fish. I remember trying them in the lower river a few times back than and never got a fish....All that said they should probably be relegated to the bottom of your tackle box where they'll never be seen again!

Throw them in the garbage.
I’ve seen them on worm harnesses I believe.

boogaloo reacted to smerchly in Cleaning Fish
In my younger days we scaled many of our fish and fried them with the skin intact & removed the bones after cooking them.
We scaled fish like bass perch , pike , pickerel , silvers and the larger gills . If the fish dried too much scaling was not easy so either soak them or fillet them.
THIS came up on You Tube today and it worked very efficiently ....easy to make , and can be used for a back scratcher also .

boogaloo reacted to smerchly in Ad Blocker ?
I have been using the blocker for years , & no prob.when I had windows 7 & Google Chrome . Now I have a newer PC with W-10 & a new 24" monitor and G. Chrome
We like watching You Tube , from fishing to music vids . Lately I have been getting a pop up from YouTube saying "You cannot use an ad blocker on You Tube "
After a few of these pop ups I deleted the blocker and sure enough the ads started . I don't mind a quick ad at the beginning of a music video but when they
put their garbage ads on in the middle of a playing song ?? I put the blocker back but will they block me from using their 'service' eventually ?
Any other options to play YT music ? When I watch TV I mute every ad or switch channels for a few minutes ....remotes are cool !

boogaloo reacted to Dave in New flys for Cuba
Decided to tie up some different patterns for Cuba this winter.I've already got lots of Tan Crab patterns so decided Olive green would be the next choice..Also a few micro sized crabs for the lagoon..My first attempt at a glue together fly tedious to build to say the least...Hopefully it wont blow apart casting.A few Barracuda flys at the top and some gotcha variations top right..

boogaloo reacted to roadrunner in Crappie day on the water
Thanks! I won't give out the exact location beacuse it took alot of hours in the cold over the past few years to figure it out! 🤐 But I will say it's on the upper grand near Dunville as a general location. Good luck!

boogaloo reacted to roadrunner in Crappie day on the water
Got out the other day on the boat and had a pretty good day on the water. Fish were very picky. Went through a few baits until I figured out what made them click. The bite was extremely light. You couldn't feel it at all. I love chasing these spotted fish around! Made for a pretty solid fish fry! Anyone else still getting them? Thought I was done with the boat but the weather looks great again this weekend! Not bad for mid December!

Back in the early 60's my Dad gave me a Swedish Mora knife, the one with the laminated blade and simple sheath. I decided to fancy it up with some Birds Eye Maple I had laying around.................................... Daniel
