Well it's too hot for this aging turkey to go fishing , so I spend more time inside with our new pooch (just gave him some flea meds..)
My stepdaugter gave him a hair cut and clipped his nails.....and brought me a Fathers' Day gift .
And , I am having trouble finding a new bag of corn puffs at any of the big stores . I bought my last bag at the Bulk Barn a "few" years ago ...oops ! The bag says this product expires at October 2012  !!  That "was'" a few years ago  !! But the carp don't know that that fortunately . I still have some remaining .
Last shot was taken about 70 years ago where I caught my last bunch of carp ...amazing they are still there !  Check the card out Tyler......

Just got back from Anjigaming (AirDale) and we had a great time!!

We drove straight through the day on Friday and stayed with Jenn and Martin at their lodge at Hawk Junction and after an amazing breaky at the lodge we drive to the air base at Wawa for our 9AM departure.  Flight in was smooth and we were unpacked and on the water by noon.  We were the first group on this lake in 2 years (it was closed for most of the pandemic) so we were excited about getting out on the lake.
The boats were 14' Naden's with 8hp Merc 4 strokes and ran fine.  Fishing was very good once we got a good lay of the land and by the end of the week we landed close to 200 fish with the largest pike in the 42-44" range and the largest Walleye was in the 24" range.  We had a couple of fish fry's for lunch and only had rain blow through a couple of times in the week but the bugs were thick when the wind died down in the evening.  The cabin has a solar array and a sat router that allowed us to get WiFi so we could text and send pics of the trip.
The week went by quickly and I am already looking forward to next years trip!

JWL & I caught a few nice perch there & they were colder than I expected , and came out of 10 fow average there . I think the carp are back in the shallow waters . I did Gibby today ...what a RIOT !  I was fishing in 6 fow & the water was warm . I went 9 for 12  today after getting a late start at 10 a.m. I used 2 rods , one with maize on the hair , one with a corn puff . The puffs outfished the corn 2 to 1  . They didn't want the maize ,so I added a puff to the barbless hook & caught 2 carp withing 20 minutes . The second rod was busy all day with a few misses ...need to check the puffs every 15-20 minutes since a 'bump' can take the soft mushy corn puff in a second ! Most carp were 8-10 lbs ...some real scrappy ones !   One carp was only about 3-4 lbs.  It was a fun day ...and " only" 3 ticks on me . ( rip) !
Here's a few shots of the rigs and one average carp . Great day on the shore bank !

Had the pleasure of meeting up with smerch this morning on the quest to catch a couple toothie critters ...today's tactics pretty simple.....slip float and minnows for bait....I guess he just wanted to show off because first cast as fast as his line could settle....bam got one!.... little while later and up pops the creature from the black lagoon!!!!....after a couple hours and a few missed bites I finally found out what kept stealing my bait...and phew ..skunk off......I ended the day with something that was big enough to break me off as fast as I could say ..hey this one has some weight to it!!!...had to go at that point and get some sleep for work tonight.....always a pleasure over the years Bill... Thanks for spending a great morning

True enough.   This is super fun and a good warmup for bass season back home.  Last season was my first real season where I focussed on bass and now I’ve sharpened my tools!

So the cool thing about fishing when you know for sure that the fish are there, is that you can try all sorts of techniques, power and finesse.

So far I’ve caught bass on…
    -t-rigged curly tailed worm
    -t-rigged stickworm
    -Ned rig
    -crankbait
    -Topwater choppo

Still haven’t got one on a frog, swimbait, wacky rig or creature bait.  The week is only half done but tomorrow is Seaworld.

Here are a couple of the typical bass this week.  Small but a fish.

Today is a day off fishing.  I am taking the family to Seaworld to ride some coasters and see some dolphins, alligators, sea lions, stingrays and orcas.  2 of my 3 kids are pumped.  The other one is a teenager and has attitude.  I want to break his phone over my knee.

Ya.  The water is probably 90F, tannic fresh.

That plopper crushed it last night. Topwater is fun. And ya, way better than work.

Well I have caught many bass so far off that little dock to the left but all 1lbers and not worth the photo.

I saw a snakehead swim by which is a fish I’d love to catch but he wouldn’t bite my offering.

I usually love to power fish (crankbaits, Topwater, swim baits) but so far all have been caught using t-rigged dark blue worms, and I’ve really had to slow it down and finesse fish them.

I bet a ned rig would be effective.  I’ll try that at some point and I’m definitely going to throw more topwater at sundown later.  My choppo and frogs should work.

For now…beer and swimming with the wife and kids.

Just returned from a dusk yak along the lily pads.  These bass like crankbaits.  Throw one at the edge and a bass eats it.  Albeit little ones.  I even caught one trolling back.

I assume the bigger ones are under the pads but the winds were blowing my blow up yak too much to work them that way.  Miss my peddle drive lol.

And that previous pic was confirmed a Florida gar.
