I have the Alcatel One Touch .....very primitive , need to press some letters 3x  to text but I never text with it . I punch in phone numbers as well .lol
I can't hear it ring when in my pocket and the vibrating caller is very weak . I bought it mostly for emergencies (911)  at 7-11
I paid about $125. for it about 5 years ago & that included 100 minutes of time over one year . 
 I top it up every year for $35  and seldom use over 40% of the available time .
But the battery only lasts one day even when not in use & I may look at getting a new battery (if possible) or a new phone .
There are "special" phones available for seniors with bad eyes ,ears ,low tech skills , and foggy memories .

It was nothing to do with microsoft. It was a hijack attempt. You did the correct thing.
Now I would recommend a complete scan of your pc with your antivirus and possibly malware bytes. Boot into safe mode and run the scans.

I did mine online last week and had no issues.

I use an adblocker as well as a script blocker. Stops scripts from running unless I allow them.  I can temporary allow them if a site is not working or permanent allow on sites I know are OK. Some pages have over 20 scripts on them. I never allow the googletagmanger or doubleclick to run.

The helix 7 G4 is 100 bucks off from humminbird, they just emailed me, good till the end of the year.

Was out today and the water was showing 76ºF on the fish finder. Looked back at my logs and last year it was only 70ºF on this date.
