No grass thatcher ??   I'll trade your leaf blower for my electric thatcher ....it destroys weeds too !   I can't get a wheelbarrow inside my garage ! I have a 5 x 7 tin shed crammed with garden ornaments ,etc.,  a 8 x 10 shed  full of garden stuff like a lawnmower , large leaf mulcher , several gas cans , rakes etc. , a 10 x 10 barn shed crammed full of summer stuff , and a 40 year old one door fridge sitting outside for beer  , worms , veggies , ect .  My basement looks like a tackle shop , work shop , clothing store , and hardware store !
Sorry , I don't know of any CCA  verado  ,  but I have CAA   ...

I store the tires in my pool shed because with a 17' ATV trailer, 19' boat, ATV, table saw, mitre saw and stand, kayak, air compressor, trikes, bikes, carriages and wagons for the grandchildren, I have run out of corners. That's not to mention all the crap I've got hanging from the ceiling, walls and attic shelves. Most of it I will never use again and if I do need it, I either forgot I have it or can't find it. I understand some people actually park their cars in the garage. And yes, they did replace my rims.

The boat that was fishing near me in Lake Ontario yesterday was also breaking the law.  They had only 2 people but had a spread of 5-6 rods with planer boards, etc.

I didn’t see them hook up once but they watched me pull in my fish in the kayak!

Fish gods punished them I believe.

Fished 8am-530pm yesterday. Only did one drift for walleye and spent the rest of the day perchin. River was dirty and not many guys out fishing. Only seen one walleye landed all day. Ended the day with 40 perch.
Not many Canadians out fishing mostly Americans. They dropped their perch limit to 25 so they come to the Canada side and catch 50 and take them back. They also like fishing multiple rods in our waters. Their allowed 3 rods over there. MNR was out, all good for our boat one of the Americans got a warning for fishing too many rods.
The day ended pretty good considering we only had a couple fish by 2:00.

I use a product from "Shooter's Choice" . It is an all weather high tech grease with an advertised temperature range of -65 to 350 F. It comes in a push button syringe that is very easy to apply exactly where you want it with no excess. It also has a sturdy cap to prevent leakage when not in use. I started using it on my break open style of shotguns to grease the pivot points and it works great. You can find it for under $10 at any store selling gun cleaning products.

verado got a reaction from smerchly in Do you Need a Boat license if your motor is under 10hp?
Last year my daughter was stopped by the O.P.P. 100 yards off the beach on Lake Muskoka using her stand up paddle board. She had her life jacket but was not wearing it. The marine enforcement officer told her she needed a Boating Operators Card (which she had) to operate anything that floats on the water. I don't think this is correct and maybe he only stopped her because she was an attractive girl in a bikini. No ticket was issued. On hot summer days people like to float on their tubes down chippawa creek. I have heard of guys getting stopped for not having their safe boating card because they were using the new tubes from CTC with a tiny little cheap electric motor for positioning. As to boat license or registration, not to be confused with the safe boating card, any boat with a motor of 10hp or greater has to be registered with the license numbers visible on both sides of the hull. When outboards first came on the scene in the early 1900's, people immediately began to race them. Classes were formed such as under 5 hp, under 10 hp etc. That was the reason for marketing motors at 9.8 or 9.9. An interesting side note was that Mercury was always cheating, their 9.8 was actually putting out closer to 15hp. They always won and this is what started the rumour that still persists to this day, that Mercury's of equal hp are faster than the other brands. It wasn't until many years later that some lakes in North America started the under 10hp restrictions. That was just a convenient cut off point as all the manufactures were producing 9.8 or 9.9's. Another thing that I was only recently made aware of..... when you registered your boat of over 10 hp and put your license numbers on the hull, it was good for life or until the boat changed ownership, it was also a free service. I bought my last boat in 2014 and was stopped by the police one day last summer while fishing Erie. On checking my registration he told me I still had a few years left before I had to renew it. This was news to me and sure enough on checking, it does have an expiry date.

Bill, you are thinking of the Niagara Regional 110yd range next to Silverdale.
Millers own Silverdale, and they have ranges out to 200 yards.
I used to be a member there until they decided to double the membership fee, then I quit there.
I belong to the Dunnville District Hunters & Anglers now - great club and much cheaper yearly fees!
They have a 20 yd restricted range, a 50 and 100 yd ranges, a trap range, and 3-D archery shoots in the summer.  They also run a walleye hatchery every year, and have perch dinners at the club.

My son and I tried Ramey's last evening from about 5:30-7:00 and were completely skunked. Some loose schools of baitfish came through but didn't stick around too much. On my camera I think I saw only shiners.

Lots of twix and mountain dew consumed..... so still successful as far as my son is concerned.

I can vouch for the big sized ones personally!
Back in the early 80s I had brought a friend with me to Pt Credit on the last day of the derby.
He was a saltwater fisherman, and, when hearing me talk about the size of the chinook, showed up that day with a saltwater surf spinning rig loaded with 500 yards of 40 Lb mono - I thought he was going overboard with that rig!  His uncle was a good fishing buddy of Lou Eppinger (the inventor of the Daredevil spoon), and my buddy brought a tackle box full of Lou’s experimental spoon designs.  He tied on a blue coloured spoon to try.
Around 10:30 am he tied into a chinook that almost emptied his reel in the first 30 seconds, with the line streaming off a screaming reel in the air off towards the horizon.
He fought that fish for almost 15 minutes, bringing it near my boat 3 times.
I had a 14 ft fibreglass Arkansaw Traveller w a 40 Hp at the time - fairly wide boat.
At the last pass of the fish just by the back of the boat, we could see the head just past my left boat  back, and still see the tail out on the right side!! Huge!!
The fish finally jumped completely out of the water, did a barrel roll in the air, and cut my buddies 40 Lb line on its gill plate!
I will never forget that monster!  The winning derby fish that year was a 39 Lb chinook, and this thing was almost double that size.  My cousin and I had caught several 20+ Lb fish earlier that year, but they were tiny compared to that one.

I agree with Smerch. The salmon, when first introduced in the late 60's early 70's have made a definite impact on the smelt. When I first started fishing tournaments back then, Molson's offered a $50,000 prize to anyone landing a 50 lb or larger salmon on rod and reel during the Toronto Star Salmon Derby. I don't recall the prize ever being awarded although several anglers came extremely close and specimens way exceeding that weight were caught in nets or found dead. After those initial years, the salmon no longer approached the 50 lb mark and now a big one is closer to 40. I think a great part of this decline can be attributed to the declining numbers of baitfish, both smelt and alewives

Looks like its been a little slow with the posts here after deer season ended.
For something a little different, here are a couple pelts i tanned up at home that some may find interesting.
Both turned out not bad - not excellent mind you - but not bad.
one 2xl muskrat and a female mink.
Since they aren’t worth much at auction this year i thought it would be good to change things up a bit.

Finally got my first deer 45 minutes into the hunt Monday morning.  I had 8 does hanging out infront of me but decided I wasn't going to tag out on a doe less than an hour into the season, especially because I was hunting alone and didn't want to drag it out by myself.   Glad I waited,  all of a sudden this buck comes out of the woods on a mission right after 2 of the does.   Beautiful 9 pointer for the freezer

Couldn't resist getting out for the early season goose season. Nice cool morning, set up went smooth and enough birds were flying to get some action. We were just packing up and two cop cars showed up, here we go. One of the neighbouring properties called in to report that there were people with guns shooting geese behind their house and they are protected. We just explained to the officers what the rules were and that we were following the rules and they were satisfied with that. My buddy follows up with "we might see you again on Saturday, lol" Too many city slickers moving out to the country that don't belong there! Arggh.

It took a while but goby's have become one of the favorite meals of bass and walleye, hence the abundance of jigs, tubes and lures with a goby finish. Years ago when gobies were first starting to show up in large numbers, I was out fishing in Mohawk Bay on a sunny afternoon. We started to notice a huge amount of large dead fish floating on the surface. On getting close to one we saw it was a smallmouth and not dead but floating there with a huge extended stomach. Later the marina operator told us it was a common occurrence. He said the bass stuff themselves with the gobies and he believed there was something a little toxic in them that the bass were not used to yet. He said they lie there for a while on the surface while digesting and then slowly swim away with no apparent side effects. These days, a goby coloured soft tube jig is the go to lure for most knowledgeable bass anglers.
