Cleithrum reacted to Tyler0420 in Contacting MNR
I know this. This is why I didn’t say anything to them besides “keeping fish out of season eh” and I left.
another group clearly weren’t indigenous and keeping fish.
a few nights later my buddy was there chilling in the parking lot and seen two indigenous people night fishing. He ask how fishing was and they said” got limits the last few nights”
I think it’s bs we all don’t have the same regs.

Cleithrum reacted to The Mindful Angler in Special Fish
The last few years has been difficult for me to get out like I normally do. That being said, I truly appreciate the times when I can get out on the bank. This year I had one short 3 hour session locally, and a trip to Rice Lake this past weekend. Friday night until Monday morning, 3 of us fished when we could. The wind made it impossible to fish for most of the day Saturday, and almost impossible to fish during the night. Everyone caught fish and we had a great time together. I wanted to share the absolute beautiful mirror carp I caught. For most Canadian carp anglers, catching a mirror is nothing short of extraordinary! These fish were the highlight of the trip for all 3 of us.

Cleithrum reacted to smerchly in Back Pack Found
After meeting some of our members during the SCGFA cleanup I checked out a few other spots to fish for pike and I found a back pack full of tackle that I think was forgotten or fell off the back of a pickup ,ect. I put it in my van and waited for about 30 min. but no one came for it . So , knowing some people may not be honest and keep it I decided to post it here since we have many 'guests' who checked NFN daily . Describe the bag and some of the contents and I will meet up at Port Dal. as it's only 15 min. away . There is a LOT of tackle in this heavy back pack , I hope the owner gets it back !
I posted here as I'm not sure if the Lost/Found thread is open for non members .

You can catch fish in murky water but you can’t catch them sitting on the couch. It’s always worth it to get out even if it’s for some fresh air.

I don’t think so.
My local lake froze over again so I headed to Hamilton harbor to find some open water. Found some 11 degree C water and caught a small carp in a short session.

Cleithrum reacted to The Ketchican Kid in Fishing Podcast
Hey NFN'ers! I have been producing a podcast the last couple years and would love to know if there are any listeners to fishing podcasts on here. If so, what ones do you like?
Always trying to create content that people like, and would like to hear why you like the podcast you listen to.
Here's a Link to my spotify page, and youtube channel where you can find my podcasts if you want to try something new. I talk to people from all corners of the industry with the intention of showcasing how our "Love of Fishing" brings us together in the sport, regardless of what our favourite aspects or involvements in the sport go.

Cleithrum reacted to Tyler0420 in Bronte
Fished bronte last night with no luck. Went out to 45fow and didnt mark any fish. Talked to a guy that was coming in as I was going out and he said the night before they were smashing them in 25-30fow but tonight was slow.
fished bronte over the south shore as the winds were from the south and thought the winds pushing into bronte would bring some fish. Is it ever weird going out at night. The lake was perfect no waves really just some small swells.

Cleithrum reacted to smerchly in Challenge series Canadian carp society
I'm happy to see you are catching some considering the conditions you have there . The water got mucked up from winds and rains ,and I think that also caused the floating moss to become unlodged and really clog up your lines . I was happy to get back to the car " tickless" for a change .
You are doing very well so far , hope they keep you awake tonight ....

The 1vs1 challenge series has started and I fish my round one next weekend. We are fishing a 24hr session. My opponent lives on the st Lawrence river and will be fishing there. I have a tough round one to get through. I haven’t done many 24hr sessions but I’m pumped for it. Starting to prep bait now.

Cleithrum got a reaction from Tyler0420 in Jet divers
One added bonus to that approach is you can have the jet diver tapping bottom on the dropper 12"-24" (or whatever you want) and then the lure off bottom and out of the zebra muscles, etc.

try the jet diver on a sliding dropper line, like a 3-way rig, as opposed to rigging it up in line with your mainline and lure. That way there is no drag pulling on the back of the jet that could cause it to flip or roll. Your lure is attached to the mainline with leader and barrel swivel whatever length you want, the sliding dropper line is attached above the barrel swivel on the mainline, allowing the diver to work

Cleithrum reacted to Tyler0420 in Ice out Carp
Is that Hamilton harbor?
You can start right now if you can find open water. Even start tossing some bait in the get them feeding and maybe hold them in a area. Creeks and rivers are a good place to start but right now with the thaw they are raging, well at least the grand river is. I have a small local lake that just partly opened up I have a few pics from fish from mar 26-30. I’m going to start fishing it as soon as I have time. Maybe Toss some corn in on way home today.
the pics were taken before I started using landing mats.

What's the earliest ice out carp you've caught?
The pic attached was May 13th last year and I think the water temp was around 50F, corn on a hair. Mid May is still a long way off it feels like ,ha.
What's the earliest you've made it happen? Any tips to get it done?

Cleithrum reacted to smerchly in Roller Coaster
I'm with you on that one Clieth ! I had a beauty red 16' cedar/canvas Prospector some years back . It was a little too 'tippy' for my liking in choppy waters .
My 16' alum.square back freighter canoe has kept be 'above' water for many years .

My son and I tried Ramey's last evening from about 5:30-7:00 and were completely skunked. Some loose schools of baitfish came through but didn't stick around too much. On my camera I think I saw only shiners.
Lots of twix and mountain dew consumed..... so still successful as far as my son is concerned.
