Buddy and I caught 3 pike over the last 24 hours. 2 pups and one near 30 inches. Small ones not pic worthy. The 30 inch crushed the lure and much blood. No pic as a result.

Fished outta grimsby today. Wanted to get out to 40+fow but the winds had other plans. Made it to 25 and that was about the max wave height I’d wanna fish in. Cruised around a bit and went in to 12fow. Ended up with 2 lakers today one for each my buddy and I. Water temps were 50f. Both fish caught in flicker minnows.

During that black out Bill, we were amazed how beautiful the sky was with all the bright stars.

Fishing Port Dal. again today , west side , no current but tried some worms with a spinner , no luck except a nice preggo perch . So I rigged up the other rod with a swim bait . Third cast got me a hit and a scrappy pike, so I thought I would revive the pike thread to start the season off . It was  4 lbs. 13 oz. with the 4" 'bass inside it's gut . Nice day but the north wind was cold near the lake .
 
 

On my way home seen close to 30 deer in a field. In the next couple years it’ll be houses.

I’m currently in New Zealand where there’s rainbows and browns in almost every body of water. Saw several like this swimming in the Mirror Lakes.

Picked up my son's Mallard from Gunner today. He did a great job as usual. Very unique pose and base, the picture doesn't do it justice. My son was very pleased!
 
If you ever want professional taxidermy done, Gunner does an awesome job. 

Got out in the sun today and was rewarded with my first shore brown, approx 26-28 inches and about 5-6lbs, caught on a 1/4 oz Cleo in chrome/green……the weather is looking favourable the next little while for early trouters, just be careful the rocks on shore can still be ice covered

I did mine online last week and had no issues.

I remember scailing many a perch in my younger days.  Then cutting of head and fins and gutting. We would fry the fish and then pull on the back bone and all the ribs would come out. Scales would fly all over the place until we learned a neat trick to hold the fish under water while you fillet it.

Thanks for that info Gene , I hope they find a way to control them . Farmers may be exempt from the hunting regs as they can do so much damage .
And I wonder what they eat in cold snowy climates ?  
BTW , I bought some pork chops yesterday , only $5 per lb. (including the bone).

Did some shore fishing today. Enough for a meal anyway
